The Duff: Designated Ugly Fat Friend

The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend - Kody Keplinger I bought The Duff because a friend recommended it to me and kept bragging about how she could not put the book down. I love a book I can so get lost in and she was right! The Duff pulled me in right from the very beginning and kept me glued to the book. I bought it yesterday and finished it yesterday. I was reading in between everything.Bianca was such an amazing character. She was so easy to connect with and relate too. From one day to the next her life completely changes. She finds things so hard to deal with at times and looks for a way out. A way to pretend her troubles do not exist. I really felt for Bianca. She dealt with a lot at such a young age. I know so many of us can relate to her. We need something to distract us and take us away from that point in time. For Bianca, her escape was Wesley. In The Duff you begin by disliking Wesley. I was shocked over their first actual conversation. He is very forward with her and tells her she THE DUFF: Designated, Ugly, Fat, Friend. But as you keep on reading, you realize that Wesley might be a jerk, but he too has something to escape from. Bianca and Wesley begin a relationship with each other and keep it a secret from the world. They treat each other so cold and are not afraid to tell it like is. They figured out how to deal with their problems by being together. And as things began to get worse for Bianca, the more and more time she spent with Wesley. He was always there for her and even though Bianca did not know, she was always there for him. No strings, No love, No expectations. I loved everything about The Duff, but what I loved the most was, how real the book felt. I felt like I was reading someone’s life story. It was so easy to follow and everything flowed together so smoothly. I think the fact that the author, Kody Keplinger, is a teenager herself, is what really helped The Duff become so amazing. I definitely recommend The Duff. You will get lost inside the pages and find how easy it is to relate to Wesley, Bianca and her friends. GREAT STORY and I am looking forward to reading more books by Kody Keplinger. FIVE STARS!
